Overview: Remembering Your Royalty is a multi-year visual archive by Azura, blending painting, photography, and writing to examine identity, lineage, and ancestral memory. Through intentional figurative compositions and culturally-rooted symbolism, the exhibition reimagines the Afro-Diasporic body as sovereign, sacred, and historically significant.
This solo exhibition marks the official launch of the Remembering Your Royalty series and offers a first look at the forthcoming coffee-table book. The show invites viewers into a world of reclamation — a return to the knowing that you were royal long before the world attempted to define you.
Mission: My mission is to create work that refuses the narratives imposed by oppressive systems — systems that have historically rewritten, diminished, or silenced Black and diasporic identities. Through art, I reclaim our voice, our memory, and our truth across generations. This is for us. Remember Your Royalty.
Key Themes: • Cultural memory and reclamation • Afro-Diasporic sovereignty • Identity as archive • Ritual, lineage, and intention • Visual storytelling through mixed-media processes
